[115] What is called a **many-footed creature** refers to scorpions, centipedes, and hairy caterpillars.
Should a bhikkhu with a mind bent on theft (theyyacitta) touch [such a creature] worth five māsakas or more than five māsakas, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). Should he cause it to stir, there is a grave offense (thullaccaya). Should he cause it to move from its place, there is an offense entailing defeat (pārājika).
Should he, thinking, "I shall lead it away on foot," cause it to step along, there is a grave offense at each and every step. Should he cause it to move its last foot, there is an offense entailing defeat.
