**"Bhikkhu":** … *(elided in the Pali)* — this is the bhikkhu intended in this meaning of "bhikkhu."
**"Should undertake go-between activity" (sañcarittaṃ samāpajjeyya):**¹ sent by a woman, he goes into the presence of a man; or sent by a man, he goes into the presence of a woman.
**"A man's intention to a woman" (itthiyā vā purisamatiṃ):** he announces a man's intention to a woman.
**"Or a woman's intention to a man" (purisassa vā itthīmatiṃ):** he announces a woman's intention to a man.
**"Whether concerning the state of a wife" (jāyattane vā):** "You will be a wife (jāyā)."
