[50] Now at that time several bhikkhus of Vesālī, sons of the Vajjīs, without having renounced the training (sikkhā), without having disclosed their weakness, engaged in sexual intercourse. They were remorseful, thinking: "A training rule (sikkhāpada) has been laid down by the Blessed One. Can it be that we have committed an offense of pārājika?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, you have committed an offense of pārājika."
