[87] **Such as**: worth one pāda, or equivalent to one pāda, or more than one pāda.
**Kings**: a king of the earth, a regional king, rulers of a circuit (maṇḍalikā), lords of intermediate domains, judges, great ministers, or whoever else administers punishments of cutting and breaking — these are called kings.
**A robber**: whoever takes, by what is reckoned as theft, something not given worth five māsakas or more than five māsakas — he is called a robber.
**They would flog him**: they would strike him with the hand, or with the foot, or with a whip, or with a cane, or with a cudgel, or by cutting.
**They would imprison him**: they would confine him with binding by rope, or binding by shackles, or binding by chains, or confinement to a house, or confinement to a city, or confinement to a village, or confinement to a town, or they would place him under guard of men.
**They would banish him**: they would banish him from a village, or from a town, or from a city, or from a country, or from a region of a country.
**"You are a robber, you are a fool, you are deluded, you are a thief"** — this is verbal abuse.
