[112] Then the Blessed One, having stayed at Bhaṇḍagāma for as long as he pleased, addressed the Venerable Ānanda: "Come, Ānanda, let us go to Hatthigāma, Ambagāma, Jambugāma, and to Bhoganagara." "Yes, venerable sir," the Venerable Ānanda replied to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, together with a large Saṅgha of bhikkhus, arrived at Bhoganagara. There the Blessed One stayed at Bhoganagara, at the Ānanda Shrine (cetiya). There the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, I shall teach these four great references (mahāpadesa). Listen to it and attend well; I shall speak." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this:
