[110] Cunda, suppose yet another spiritual companion should speak the Dhamma in the Saṅgha. If it should occur to you regarding him: 'This venerable one grasps the meaning (attha) wrongly, but sets forth the phrasing (byañjana) correctly,' you should neither approve of it nor reject it. Not approving and not rejecting, he should be addressed thus: 'Friend, of these phrasings, is this the meaning or is that the meaning — which is the more fitting?' If he should say thus: 'Friend, of these phrasings, this very meaning is the more fitting — namely, that very one,' he should be neither extolled nor disparaged. Not extolling and not disparaging him, that very one should be carefully made to understand, for the examination of that meaning.
