[149] He resolved firmly upon non-anger, and gave gifts —
cloths both delicate and of fine color;
abiding in an earlier existence, he bestowed them,
as a god raining down upon the earth.
Having done that, passing away from here he arose in the heavenly world;
having enjoyed the ripened fruit of the deed well done,
the surface of his body like gold,
here he surpasses all, like Inda, most excellent of the gods.
And if the man dwells in the house, not desiring to go forth,
he governs the great earth, having subdued it;
here he obtains the seven treasures (sattaratana),
together with skin abundant, delicate, and pure.
A gainer of clothing, garments, and the choicest robes
he becomes, if he goes to the houseless state;
he experiences the richly beneficial fruit of what was formerly done —
of what has been done there is no perishing.
