[155] "In faith (saddhā), in virtue (sīla), in learning (suta), in intelligence (buddhi),
in generosity (cāga), in the Dhamma, and in many good qualities,
in wealth, in grain, and in fields and land,
in children, in wives, and in four-footed animals,
in relatives, in friends, and in kinsmen,
in strength, and in both beauty and happiness—
'How might they not decline?'—so he wished on behalf of others,
and he longed besides for their riches and their success.
He was well-formed, with the forequarters of a lion,
with evenly rounded torso and the space between his shoulders filled out:
through the deed well practiced and done in the past,
that was for him the portent (pubbanimitta) of non-decline.
Even as a householder he grows in grain and in wealth,
in children, in wives, and in four-footed animals;
gone forth, owning nothing, he attains
the unsurpassed awakening (sambodhi), whose nature is never to decline."
