"Not with the hand, nor yet with rod or clod,
nor with the sword, nor yet by deadly violence,
nor by confinement, nor by intimidation,
did he ever harm the people — a harmer of none was he.
By that very deed, having passed away, he rejoices in the good destinations (sugati);
having done the deed whose fruit is happiness, he finds manifold happiness.
His conveyors of taste, well formed, bearing the essence evenly,
come back here, he gains the supremely acute sense of taste (rasaggasaggitā).
Therefore the supremely astute, the discerning ones, declared of him:
'This man will be one abounding in happiness;
whether for a householder or for one gone forth,
that mark is the illuminator of that meaning.'"
