[414] What five dhammas should be abandoned? The five hindrances (nīvaraṇa): the hindrance of sensual desire (kāmacchanda), the hindrance of ill will (byāpāda), the hindrance of dullness and drowsiness (thīna-middha), the hindrance of restlessness and remorse (uddhacca-kukkucca), and the hindrance of doubt (vicikicchā). These five dhammas should be abandoned.
