[86] And furthermore, venerable sir, this is unsurpassed: the way in which the Blessed One teaches the Dhamma concerning the knowledge (ñāṇa) of the liberation of other persons (parapuggala-vimuttiñāṇa).
Venerable sir, the Blessed One knows another person, through his own wise attention (yonisomanasikāra): "This person, with the destruction of three fetters (saṃyojana), will become a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to falling into states of woe, fixed in destiny, bound for full awakening."
Venerable sir, the Blessed One knows another person, through his own wise attention: "This person, with the destruction of three fetters and the attenuation of lust (rāga), hatred, and delusion, will become a once-returner (sakadāgāmī); having come back to this world only once more, he will make an end of suffering (dukkha)."
Venerable sir, the Blessed One knows another person, through his own wise attention: "This person, with the destruction of the five lower fetters, will be spontaneously reborn (opapātika), and will attain final Nibbāna there, not subject to returning from that world."
Venerable sir, the Blessed One knows another person, through his own wise attention: "This person, with the destruction of the taints (āsava), will realize for himself with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), and having entered upon it, will dwell therein."
This, venerable sir, is unsurpassed with regard to the knowledge of the liberation of other persons.
