[175] "Here, Sāriputta, I understand a certain individual, having encompassed his mind (citta) with my own mind, thus: 'This individual is practicing in such a way, conducting himself in such a way, and has entered upon such a path that, with the breakup of the body, after death, he will reappear in a good destination (sugati), in a heavenly world.' Then, at a later time, with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), purified and surpassing the human, I see him — with the breakup of the body, after death, reappeared in a good destination, in a heavenly world — experiencing exclusively pleasant feelings (vedanā).
Suppose, Sāriputta, there were a mansion, and in it a peaked chamber, plastered within and without, draft-free, with door-bolts fastened and windows shuttered; and in it a couch spread with a long-fleeced woolen coverlet, spread with a white woolen coverlet, spread with a flower-embroidered coverlet, with a choice covering of kadali-deer hide, with a canopy above and red pillows at both ends. Then a man might come along, scorched and overcome by the heat, exhausted, parched, and thirsty, heading by a path going one way straight to that very mansion. A man with good eyes, on seeing him, would say: 'This good man is practicing in such a way, conducting himself in such a way, and has entered upon such a path that he will arrive at this very mansion.' Then, at a later time, he would see him seated or lying in that mansion, in that peaked chamber, on that couch, experiencing exclusively pleasant feelings.
So too, Sāriputta, I understand a certain individual here, having encompassed his mind with my own mind, thus: 'This individual is practicing in such a way, conducting himself in such a way, and has entered upon such a path that, with the breakup of the body, after death, he will reappear in a good destination, in a heavenly world.' Then, at a later time, with the divine eye, purified and surpassing the human, I see him — with the breakup of the body, after death, reappeared in a good destination, in a heavenly world — experiencing exclusively pleasant feelings."
