[177] Sāriputta, I recall having lived the holy life (brahmacariya) endowed with four factors: I was a practitioner of austerity (tapassī), the supreme practitioner of austerity; I was rough in living (lūkha), supremely rough in living; I was scrupulous in loathing evil (jegucchī), supremely scrupulous; I was secluded (pavivitta), supremely secluded.
