[250] When this was said, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, just as a man overcome by hunger and weakness might obtain a honey-cake (madhupiṇḍika) — from whatever part he might taste it, he would obtain only a sweet, delectable flavor; even so, venerable sir, a bhikkhu of intelligent and capable nature — from whatever point he might examine with wisdom the meaning of this exposition of the Dhamma (dhammapariyāya), he would gain only satisfaction, he would gain only confidence of mind (citta). Venerable sir, what is the name of this exposition of the Dhamma?"
"Therefore, Ānanda, you may remember this exposition of the Dhamma as 'The Honey-Cake Exposition' (Madhupiṇḍikapariyāya)."
This is what the Blessed One said. Satisfied, the Venerable Ānanda delighted in the Blessed One's words.
The Madhupiṇḍika Sutta, the Eighth, is finished.
