[255] "Thus, bhikkhus, the safe (khema) path, the secure path, the path to be traversed with joy, has been opened by me; the wrong path (kummagga) has been closed off; the male decoy (okacara) has been struck down; the female decoy (okacārikā) has been destroyed. Bhikkhus, whatever should be done by a teacher seeking the welfare of his disciples, out of compassion, taking pity upon them — that has been done for you by me. These, bhikkhus, are the roots of trees; these are empty dwellings. Meditate, bhikkhus; do not be negligent; do not be remorseful afterwards. This is our instruction to you."
This is what the Blessed One said. Satisfied, those bhikkhus rejoiced in the Blessed One's words.
The Dvedhāvitakka Sutta, the ninth, is concluded.
