[404] Then, in the morning, the Blessed One dressed and, taking bowl and robe, went to the park of Saccaka the Nigaṇṭha's son; having gone there, he sat down on the seat prepared, together with the Saṅgha of bhikkhus. Then Saccaka the Nigaṇṭha's son with his own hands served and satisfied the Saṅgha of bhikkhus headed by the Buddha with excellent hard and soft food. Then, when the Blessed One had finished eating and had withdrawn his hand from the bowl, Saccaka the Nigaṇṭha's son took a low seat and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, Saccaka the Nigaṇṭha's son said this to the Blessed One: "Sir Gotama, may the merit and the increase of merit (puññamahī) in this gift be for the happiness of the donors."
"Aggivessana, whatever comes on account of a recipient of offerings such as yourself—one not free of lust (rāga), not free of hatred, not free of delusion—that will be for the donors; whatever comes on account of a recipient of offerings such as myself—one free of lust, free of hatred, free of delusion—that will be for you."
The Cūḷasaccaka Sutta, the fifth, is finished.
