[18] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Venerable Ānanda was dwelling at Beluvagāmaka, near Vesālī. Now on that occasion the householder Dasama, a citizen of Aṭṭhakanagara, had arrived at Pāṭaliputta on some business. Then the householder Dasama, the citizen of Aṭṭhakanagara, approached a certain bhikkhu at the Kukkuṭārāma; having approached and paid homage to that bhikkhu, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the householder Dasama, the citizen of Aṭṭhakanagara, said to that bhikkhu: "Where, venerable sir, is the Venerable Ānanda dwelling at present? For we wish to see the Venerable Ānanda." "Householder, the Venerable Ānanda is dwelling at Beluvagāmaka, near Vesālī." Then the householder Dasama, the citizen of Aṭṭhakanagara, having concluded that business at Pāṭaliputta, went to Vesālī, to Beluvagāmaka, and approached the Venerable Ānanda; having approached and paid homage to the Venerable Ānanda, he sat down to one side.
