[246] "When asked, 'How is it, Master Gotama—does Master Gotama hold the view: "The world is eternal; this alone is true, anything else is futile"?' you say: 'Vaccha, I do not hold the view: "The world is eternal; this alone is true, anything else is futile."'
When asked, 'Then, Master Gotama, does Master Gotama hold the view: "The world is not eternal; this alone is true, anything else is futile"?' you say: 'Vaccha, I do not hold the view: "The world is not eternal; this alone is true, anything else is futile."'
When asked, 'How is it, Master Gotama—does Master Gotama hold the view: "The world is finite; this alone is true, anything else is futile"?' you say: 'Vaccha, I do not hold the view: "The world is finite; this alone is true, anything else is futile."'

But what danger does Master Gotama see, that he thus does not adopt any of these speculative views (diṭṭhigata) at all?"
