[270] "There are, Aggivessana, some ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Everything is acceptable to me.' There are, Aggivessana, some ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Nothing is acceptable to me.' There are, Aggivessana, some ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Some things are acceptable to me, some things are not acceptable to me.'
"Therein, Aggivessana, as to those ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Everything is acceptable to me'—this view of theirs is close to passion (sarāga), close to bondage (saṃyoga), close to delighting (abhinandanā), close to attachment (ajjhosāna), close to clinging (upādāna). Therein, Aggivessana, as to those ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Nothing is acceptable to me'—this view of theirs is close to non-passion, close to non-bondage, close to non-delighting, close to non-attachment, close to non-clinging."
When this was said, the wanderer Dīghanakha said to the Blessed One: "The worthy Gotama extols my view! The worthy Gotama highly extols my view!"
"Therein, Aggivessana, as to those ascetics and brahmins who are of such doctrine, of such view: 'Some things are acceptable to me, some things are not acceptable to me'—that view of theirs regarding what is acceptable is close to passion, close to bondage, close to delighting, close to attachment, close to clinging; while that view of theirs regarding what is not acceptable is close to non-passion, close to non-bondage, close to non-delighting, close to non-attachment, close to non-clinging."
