[274] Now at that time the venerable Sāriputta was seated behind the Blessed One, fanning the Blessed One. Then this thought occurred to the venerable Sāriputta: "It seems the Blessed One speaks to us of the abandoning of these various dhammas through direct knowledge (abhiññā); it seems the Sublime One speaks to us of the relinquishment of these various dhammas through direct knowledge." As the venerable Sāriputta was reflecting thus, his mind (citta) was liberated from the taints (āsava) through not clinging. And in the wanderer Dīghanakha there arose the stainless, immaculate vision of the Dhamma (dhammacakkhu): "Whatever is of a nature to originate, all that is of a nature to cease."
