[345] "Furthermore, Udāyi, with the fading away of rapture (pīti) … a bhikkhu enters and dwells in the third jhāna. He drenches, steeps, fills, and pervades this very body with the bliss divested of rapture, so that there is no part of his whole body that is not suffused with the bliss divested of rapture. Just as, Udāyi, in a pond of blue lotuses, a pond of red lotuses, or a pond of white lotuses, some blue lotuses, red lotuses, or white lotuses, born in the water, grown up in the water, not rising above the water, are nourished while submerged within it; and from their tips down to their roots they are drenched, steeped, filled, and pervaded by that water, so that there is no part of those blue lotuses, red lotuses, or white lotuses in their entirety that is not suffused by that water—even so, Udāyi, a bhikkhu drenches, steeps, fills, and pervades this very body with the bliss divested of rapture, so that there is no part of his whole body that is not suffused with the bliss divested of rapture."
