[388] When this was said, the assembly of the wanderer Sakuludāyī said this to the wanderer Sakuludāyī: "Let the worthy Udāyī not live the holy life (brahmacariya) under the ascetic Gotama. Let the worthy Udāyī, having been a teacher, not live the life of a pupil (antevāsī). Just as a water jar might become a mere water-scoop, even so would this outcome be for the worthy Udāyī. Let the worthy Udāyī not live the holy life under the ascetic Gotama; let the worthy Udāyī, having been a teacher, not live the life of a pupil."
Thus indeed did the assembly of the wanderer Sakuludāyī make an obstacle for the wanderer Sakuludāyī to the holy life under the Blessed One.
The Cūḷasakuludāyi Sutta, the Ninth, is finished.
