[558] Then, not long after King Pasenadi of Kosala had departed, the Venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down at one side. Sitting at one side, the Venerable Ānanda related to the Blessed One the entire conversation he had had with King Pasenadi of Kosala, and he presented that imported cloth (bāhitikā) to the Blessed One.
Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, it is a gain for King Pasenadi of Kosala; bhikkhus, it is well gained by King Pasenadi of Kosala, in that King Pasenadi of Kosala gets to see Ānanda and gets to attend upon him."
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Satisfied, those bhikkhus delighted in the Blessed One's words.
The Bāhitiya Sutta, the Eighth, is finished.
