[586] "Yes, sir," Uttara the young brahmin replied to the brahmin Brahmāyu. Rising from his seat, he paid homage to the brahmin Brahmāyu, circumambulated him keeping him on his right, and set out on his journey through the Videha country to where the Blessed One was. Wandering by stages, he approached the Blessed One; having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Blessed One, and when the courteous and memorable talk was concluded, he sat down at one side. Seated at one side, Uttara the young brahmin scrutinized the Blessed One's body for the thirty-two marks of a Great Man. Uttara the young brahmin saw the thirty-two marks of a Great Man on the Blessed One's body for the most part, excepting two: he was doubtful and uncertain about two of the marks of a Great Man, and could not come to a decision or settle his confidence concerning them—the male organ enclosed in a sheath, and the largeness of the tongue.
