[736] Then the Blessed One, wandering by stages on tour through the Kosalan country, arrived at Paccalakappa. There the Blessed One dwelt at Paccalakappa, in the mango grove of the Todeyya brahmins.
The brahmin lady Dhanañjānī heard: "The Blessed One, it is said, has arrived at Paccalakappa and is dwelling at Paccalakappa, in the mango grove of the Todeyya brahmins." Then the brahmin lady Dhanañjānī approached the young brahmin Saṅgārava; having approached, she said to the young brahmin Saṅgārava: "Dear boy of gracious countenance (bhadramukha), this Blessed One has arrived at Paccalakappa and is dwelling at Paccalakappa, in the mango grove of the Todeyya brahmins. Now, dear boy of gracious countenance, you may go at whatever time you think fit."
"Yes, madam," the young brahmin Saṅgārava replied to the brahmin lady Dhanañjānī, and he approached the Blessed One; having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Blessed One, and when the courteous and memorable talk was concluded, he sat down at one side. Seated at one side, the young brahmin Saṅgārava said to the Blessed One: "Worthy Gotama, there are some ascetics and brahmins who claim the fundamentals of the holy life (ādibrahmacariya), having attained the consummation and perfection through direct knowledge (abhiññā) here in this very life. Among them, worthy Gotama—those ascetics and brahmins who claim the fundamentals of the holy life, having attained the consummation and perfection through direct knowledge in this very life—which of them is the worthy Gotama?"
