[233] "Sāriputta, if all khattiyas (nobles) were to understand thus in detail the meaning of this statement spoken by me in brief, it would be for the lasting welfare and happiness of all those khattiyas. And if, Sāriputta, all brāhmaṇas … And if, Sāriputta, all vessas (merchants) … And if, Sāriputta, all suddas (workers) were to understand thus in detail the meaning of this statement spoken by me in brief, it would be for the lasting welfare and happiness of all those suddas. And if, Sāriputta, the world with its devas, with Māra, with Brahmā, this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans, were to understand thus in detail the meaning of this statement spoken by me in brief, it would be for the lasting welfare and happiness of the world with its devas, with Māra, with Brahmā, of this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans."
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Satisfied, the venerable Sāriputta delighted in the Blessed One's words.
