[286] Bhikkhus, there are bhikkhus in this Saṅgha of bhikkhus who dwell devoted to the practice of developing the four right strivings (sammappadhāna) … the four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda) … the five spiritual faculties (indriya) … the five powers (bala) … the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing the Noble Eightfold Path (magga). Such bhikkhus, too, bhikkhus, are present in this Saṅgha of bhikkhus.
Bhikkhus, there are bhikkhus in this Saṅgha of bhikkhus who dwell devoted to the practice of developing loving-kindness … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing compassion … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing altruistic joy … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing equanimity … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing (the meditation on) repulsiveness (asubha) … who dwell devoted to the practice of developing the perception of impermanence (aniccasaññā). Such bhikkhus, too, bhikkhus, are present in this Saṅgha of bhikkhus.
