[325] Bhikkhus, again, furthermore, a bhikkhu is endowed with faith, endowed with virtue, endowed with learning, endowed with generosity, endowed with wisdom. He has heard: "The Brahmā of a Hundred Thousand (satasahasso brahmā) is long-lived, beautiful, and abounding in happiness." Bhikkhus, the Brahmā of a Hundred Thousand abides having pervaded and resolved upon a hundred-thousandfold world-system; and the beings who have arisen there — them too he abides pervading and resolving upon. Just as, bhikkhus, an ornament of gold from the Jambū river (jambonada), well and skilfully wrought by a deft smith's son in the mouth of the furnace, when placed upon a pale woolen cloth, shines and glows and radiates, even so, bhikkhus, the Brahmā of a Hundred Thousand abides having pervaded and resolved upon a hundred-thousandfold world-system; and the beings who have arisen there — them too he abides pervading and resolving upon. It occurs to him thus: "Oh, that with the breaking up of the body, after death, I might be reborn in the companionship of the Brahmā of a Hundred Thousand!" He fixes that mind (citta), he resolves upon that mind, he develops that mind. Those volitional formations and those abidings of his, thus developed, thus cultivated, lead to rebirth there. This, bhikkhus, is the path, this is the way of practice that leads to rebirth there.
