[398] The Tathāgata guides him further: "Come, bhikkhu, dwell contemplating the body in the body (kāyānupassanā), but do not think a thought connected with the body. … in feelings (vedanā) … in the mind (citta) … dwell contemplating dhammas in dhammas, but do not think a thought connected with dhammas." With the subsiding of thought (vitakka) and examination (vicāra), he enters and dwells in the second jhāna, which has internal confidence and unification of mind, is without thought and without examination, and has rapture (pīti) and pleasure born of concentration (samādhi) … the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna.
