[414] "Bhūmija, as for any ascetics or brahmins whatsoever who possess right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration — if, even having made a wish, they lead the holy life, they are capable of attaining the fruit; if, even having made no wish, they lead the holy life, they are capable of attaining the fruit; if, even having made both a wish and no wish, they lead the holy life, they are capable of attaining the fruit; if, even having made neither a wish nor no wish, they lead the holy life, they are capable of attaining the fruit. Why is that? Because, Bhūmija, that is a rational way for the attainment of the fruit."
