[500] Again, bhikkhus, a wheel-turning monarch is dear and agreeable to the brahmins and householders. Just as, bhikkhus, a father is dear and agreeable to his sons, even so, bhikkhus, a wheel-turning monarch is dear and agreeable to the brahmins and householders. And to the wheel-turning monarch, bhikkhus, the brahmins and householders are dear and agreeable. Just as, bhikkhus, sons are dear and agreeable to their father, even so, bhikkhus, to the wheel-turning monarch the brahmins and householders are dear and agreeable.
Formerly, bhikkhus, a wheel-turning monarch drove out to the pleasure-garden grounds with his fourfold army. Then, bhikkhus, the brahmins and householders approached the wheel-turning monarch and said this: "Sire, drive unhurriedly, so that we may see you for a longer time." And the wheel-turning monarch, bhikkhus, addressed his charioteer: "Charioteer, drive unhurriedly, so that I may see the brahmins and householders for a longer time." Bhikkhus, a wheel-turning monarch is endowed with this fourth blessing (iddhi).
Bhikkhus, a wheel-turning monarch is endowed with these four blessings.
