[505] The Blessed One said this: "Bhikkhus, suppose there were two houses with doors, and a man with good eyes, standing in between, were to see people entering the house, leaving it, wandering about, and roaming to and fro. Even so, bhikkhus, with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), which is purified and surpasses the human, I see beings passing away and reappearing—inferior and superior, fair and ugly, fortunate and unfortunate—and I understand how beings fare according to their actions: 'These worthy beings, endowed with good conduct (sucarita) of body, endowed with good conduct of speech, endowed with good conduct of mind, not revilers of the noble ones, holding right view (sammādiṭṭhi), undertaking actions based on right view—these, with the breaking up of the body, after death, have reappeared in a good destination, in a heavenly world. Or else these worthy beings, endowed with good conduct of body, endowed with good conduct of speech, endowed with good conduct of mind, not revilers of the noble ones, holding right view, undertaking actions based on right view—these, with the breaking up of the body, after death, have reappeared among human beings. But these worthy beings, endowed with misconduct (duccarita) of body, endowed with misconduct of speech, endowed with misconduct of mind, revilers of the noble ones, holding wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi), undertaking actions based on wrong view—these, with the breaking up of the body, after death, have reappeared in the realm of ghosts (pettivisaya). Or else these worthy beings, endowed with misconduct of body, endowed with misconduct of speech, endowed with misconduct of mind, revilers of the noble ones, holding wrong view, undertaking actions based on wrong view—these, with the breaking up of the body, after death, have reappeared in the animal womb. Or else these worthy beings, endowed with misconduct of body, endowed with misconduct of speech, endowed with misconduct of mind, revilers of the noble ones, holding wrong view, undertaking actions based on wrong view—these, with the breaking up of the body, after death, have reappeared in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, the lower realm, hell.'"
