[525] The Blessed One said this. Having said this, the Sublime One, the Teacher, further said this:
Those mortals (māṇavā) who, though warned by the divine messengers (devadūta),
are negligent — those humans sorrow for a long time,
having gone to join an inferior class of beings.
But those good and true persons here who,
warned by the divine messengers, are never at any time
negligent in the noble Dhamma —
having seen the peril in clinging (upādāna),
the origin of birth (jāti) and death (maraṇa),
they are liberated without clinging
in the destruction of birth and death.
They have attained security, are happy,
quenched in this very life;
having passed beyond all enmity and peril,
they have transcended all suffering (dukkha).
The Devadūta Sutta, the tenth, is ended.
The Suññata Vagga, the third, is ended.
