Mahākaccānabhaddekarattasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 555

[555] The Venerable Mahākaccāna said this: "Friends, the Blessed One, having recited to us a summary in brief without analyzing its meaning in detail, rose from his seat and entered his dwelling: 'One should not run back to the past … It is he, indeed, whom the peaceful sage declares "one who has one excellent night (bhaddekaratta)."' Of this summary, friends, recited in brief by the Blessed One without its meaning being analyzed in detail, I understand the meaning in detail thus."
