[625] Therein, what are the six kinds of joy based on the household life (gehasita somanassa)? When one regards as an acquisition the acquiring of forms cognizable by the eye—wished for, desirable, agreeable, delightful to the mind, connected with worldly material things (lokāmisa)—or when one recollects what was formerly acquired, now past, ceased, and changed, joy arises. Joy such as this is called joy based on the household life.
Of sounds cognizable by the ear … of odors cognizable by the nose … of tastes cognizable by the tongue … of tangibles cognizable by the body … when one regards as an acquisition the acquiring of mind-objects cognizable by the mind—wished for, desirable, agreeable, delightful to the mind, connected with worldly material things—or when one recollects what was formerly acquired, now past, ceased, and changed, joy arises. Joy such as this is called joy based on the household life.
