[661] "'One should speak unhurriedly, not hurriedly.' So it was said. And with reference to what was this said? In that case, bhikkhus, when one speaks hurriedly, the body tires, the mind (citta) is stressed, the voice is strained, the throat becomes sore, and the speech of one who speaks hurriedly is indistinct and hard to understand. In that case, bhikkhus, when one speaks unhurriedly, the body does not tire, the mind is not stressed, the voice is not strained, the throat does not become sore, and the speech of one who speaks unhurriedly is distinct and easy to understand. So when it was said: 'One should speak unhurriedly, not hurriedly,' it was with reference to this that it was said."
