Piṇḍapātapārisuddhisutta

Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 841

[841] "Furthermore, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu should reflect thus: 'Have I abandoned the five hindrances (nīvaraṇa)?' If, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have not abandoned the five hindrances,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should strive for the abandoning of the five hindrances. But if, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have abandoned the five hindrances,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should dwell with that very rapture and gladness, training day and night in wholesome qualities."
