Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Sagāthāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 15 · Section 144

[144] "That path (magga) is named 'the Straight'; that quarter is named 'the Fearless'; the chariot is named 'the Unrattling,' fitted with wheels of Dhamma; conscience (hirī) is its leaning-board, mindfulness (sati) its screen; I declare the Dhamma to be the charioteer, with right view (sammādiṭṭhi) speeding on before. Whoever has such a vehicle, whether a woman or a man, that one indeed, by this very vehicle, is in the presence of Nibbāna itself." #1 Sī. reads either "dvāvaṭṭaṃ" or "dvāvaddhaṃ"; Yu. reads "dvirāvaṭṭaṃ." #2 In Yu. it appears as "satyassa."
