[183] [The Blessed One replied:] "The world is led along by craving (taṇhā); by craving it is dragged about; one and all have gone under the sway of craving, that one thing." [Edition footnotes as printed:] #1 Sī. reads aṭṭhabhavi; Yu. reads addhabhavi; A. has the readings andabhavī and also andhabhavī. #2 The reading bhīyo is also found. #3 In all (other editions): kissassu. #4 Po. and Ma. read parikassati.
