[25] When this was said, bhikkhus, a certain deity (devatā) replied² to that deity in verse: "You do not understand,³ fool, The word of the arahants: Impermanent are all formations (saṅkhārā), Of a nature to arise and pass away; Having arisen, they cease; Their stilling is bliss." # ¹ Only in the European edition is the three-word reading "evaṃ me sutaṃ" ("Thus have I heard") present. ² Sī.
