[283] "Those who give it with faith (saddhā), with a mind of clear confidence — that very food attends upon them, both in this world and in the next. Therefore, having removed stinginess (macchera), one should give a gift as a conqueror of the stain (mala); merits (puñña) are the support of living beings in the world beyond."
