[314] Standing to one side, the young deva (devaputta) Asama spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One concerning Pūraṇa Kassapa: "Here amid cutting and killing, amid beatings and plunder, Kassapa sees no evil, nor yet any merit for oneself. Truly he declared what may be trusted; as a teacher he deserves esteem."
