[421] Then the Blessed One, understanding, "This is Māra the Evil One (pāpimā)," addressed Māra the Evil One in verse: "Through the long course of saṃsāra you have fashioned your appearance, beautiful and ugly; enough for you with that, Evil One — you are struck down, End-maker (Antaka)!" Then Māra the Evil One, [realizing,] "The Blessed One knows me; the Fortunate One (Sugata) knows me," pained and dejected, vanished right there. The Subha Sutta, the third.
