[429] Then Māra the Evil One (pāpimā) approached the Blessed One; and having approached, he addressed the Blessed One in verse: "You are bound by all snares (pāsa), both those divine and those human; you are bound by the great bond (mahābandhana)—you will not escape me, ascetic (samaṇa)!"
