[529] Then Māra the Evil One (pāpimā), desiring to arouse fear, trepidation, and terror in the bhikkhunī Kisāgotamī, desiring to make her fall away from concentration (samādhi), approached the bhikkhunī Kisāgotamī; and having approached, he addressed the bhikkhunī Kisāgotamī in verse: "Why now, as if your child were slain, do you sit all alone with tearful face? Having gone alone into the midst of the forest, are you seeking a man?"
