[544] [Upacālā:]
"The devas of Tāvatiṃsa and of Yāma, and the devatās of Tusita,
the devas who delight in creation (Nimmānarati), and those devas who wield control (Vasavatti) —
still bound by the bond of sensuality (kāmabandhana), they come again under Māra's sway.
All the world is ablaze; all the world is smoldering;
all the world is blazing up; all the world is shaken.
That which is unshaken, unwavering, not frequented by worldlings (puthujjana),
where there is no access for Māra — there my mind delights."
Then Māra the Evil One, [realizing] "The bhikkhunī Upacālā knows me," sad and dejected, disappeared right there.
