[609] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, on Mount Gijjhakūṭa, not long after Devadatta had departed. Then the Brahmā Sahampati, when the night had advanced, of surpassing beauty, illuminating the entire Gijjhakūṭa, approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and stood to one side.
