[616] There, bhikkhus, Brahmā, Brahmā's assembly, and the members of Brahmā's retinue (brahmapārisajjā) grumbled, complained, and spread it about: "It is wonderful indeed, sir! It is marvelous indeed, sir! How indeed can a disciple teach the Dhamma in the very presence of the Teacher?"
Then, bhikkhus, the Blessed One Sikhī, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One, addressed the bhikkhu Abhibhū: "Brahmin, Brahmā, Brahmā's assembly, and the members of Brahmā's retinue are grumbling: 'It is wonderful indeed, sir! It is marvelous indeed, sir! How indeed can a disciple teach the Dhamma in the very presence of the Teacher?' Well then, brahmin, stir Brahmā, Brahmā's assembly, and the members of Brahmā's retinue with a sense of urgency (saṃvega) to an even greater degree."
"Yes, venerable sir," the bhikkhu Abhibhū replied to the Blessed One Sikhī, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One; and he taught the Dhamma with his body visible; he taught the Dhamma with his body invisible; he taught the Dhamma with the lower half of his body visible and the upper half of his body invisible; he taught the Dhamma with the upper half of his body visible and the lower half of his body invisible.
