[646] "Established in virtue (sīla), a man endowed with wisdom,
developing the mind (citta) and wisdom (paññā),
a bhikkhu ardent (ātāpī) and discreet —
he can disentangle this tangle.
Those in whom lust (rāga) and hatred (dosa)
and ignorance (avijjā) have faded away,
arahants whose taints (āsava) are destroyed —
for them the tangle is disentangled.
Where name-and-form (nāmarūpa)
ceases without remainder,
along with impingement (paṭigha) and perception of form (rūpasaññā) —
it is here that this tangle is cut."
