[709] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling among the Kosalans in a certain forest grove.
Now on that occasion several young brahmin students (māṇavaka), pupils (antevāsika) of a certain brahmin of the Bhāradvāja clan, while gathering firewood, approached that forest grove. Having approached, they saw the Blessed One sitting in that forest grove, having folded his legs crosswise, set his body erect, and established mindfulness (sati) before him. Having seen him, they approached the brahmin of the Bhāradvāja clan; and having approached, they said this to the brahmin of the Bhāradvāja clan: "Sir, you should know: in such-and-such a forest grove the ascetic Gotama is sitting, having folded his legs crosswise, set his body erect, and established mindfulness before him."
